Reflections of a Combat Veteran, from Normandy to Afghanistan
more than 15 years, I have written individual essays regarding a variety of
topics with which I am familiar. These essays range from the Normandy invasion
to several combat areas with which I had experience – Vietnam through the birth
of today’s special operation forces. Much of the real background history has
been lost over time and I wish to memorialize it while I can still recount.
Above all else, the essays are a salute to the infantry that bear the national
burden of all our wars and conflicts and have since the birth of our nation.
these with the hope that the lay reader can grow to appreciate the nature of
the uniformed participant in our conflicts and understand the sacrifices and
issues that a very small portion of our population experiences on behalf of us
all.” --Quoted by the author
